Write It In Your Heart!

Dear Friends:

What a warm, cool January is shaping up to be here in sunny Florida.  The holidays brought familiar faces back into our lives; it brought the kind of humanity we long for throughout the year.  We moved from one pattern of living to another — designing space that could encompass others — space that would only grow deeper as we shared emotions and bread.  And, thus, after the harvest, an empty field that our busy lives will try to nurture once again. Happily, these times of loving “extra” drift from our consciousness and strengthen the very fiber of our soul.

Quiet again and free to make sandwiches for dinner, we embark at once in search of inspiration…a burst of heaven’s magic to spur us forward, make the baggage weightless, and put us in a familiar groove.  We engage in conversations with God and seek truth as it is – perhaps not to reconstruct or strategize, but to encourage our sense of trust that life is where it needs to be, on track and headed for home.

So after all is said and done, was all our holly folly a waste of precious time or an opportunity to raise the temperature of good will?  Oh, the memory of holiday faces, loads of laundry and dishes, the art undone, the laughter and good cheer…the memory is at once our latest inspiration – for it fills us to know love and to be loved, and to find our way back to God through love.

Write it in your heart, that every act of loving not only fills our own hearts but fills the air.  Loving is our holy gift back to the universe, our way of exchanging kindness and compassion, and our way of healing.  With arms stretched across the table, we feed each other.  A very happy and healthy New Year to you and yours.

God bless. OM

Go out into the world today and love the people you meet.

Let your presence light new light in the hearts of people.
-Mother Teresa

If there is any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow human being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again.
William Penn

You’re always believing ahead of your evidence. What was the evidence I could write a poem? I just believed it. The most creative thing in us is to believe in a thing.
Robert Frost

Write it on your heart
that every day is the best day in the year.
He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day
who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety.

Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit
to be cumbered with your old nonsense.

This new day is too dear,
with its hopes and invitations,
to waste a moment on the yesterdays.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson Collected Poems and Translations

Course Description:

In this workshop students will work with the Language of Flowers to adapt a surrealistic flower portrait in the dream-like style of Chagall. Borrowing from the 19th Century passion for flower meanings, students will create compositions of flowers that express an emotion or message. The Chagall like style of these works will allow students to paint loosely in watercolor.
